Thanks for joining the Institute for Liberal Studies Alumni Network!
We’re excited to have this new forum to give alumni like you the chance to continue your involvement with the ILS. We know that events like Freedom Week or a Socratic Seminar were formative intellectual events for many of you, and one part of the mission of the Alumni Network is to help us reach even more students who would enjoy those opportunities.
But we’ve also heard from a lot of you who wish there more opportunities to stay involved with the ILS after graduation. Learning about ideas isn’t just something we do for a few years in our late teens and early twenties. The kind of people who come to ILS events are also the kind of people who want to keep exploring ideas long after they’ve written their last exam.
We hope that the Alumni Network will provide that by letting you know about – and even helping to organize – lectures and reading groups that are open to alumni. We’re also looking to host occasional social gatherings for ILS alumni in cities like Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal.
If there’s something you’d like to see the ILS Alumni Network doing, I hope you’ll reach out to our Steering Committee or the Director of Alumni Affairs to make a suggestion.
I look forward to working with you to spread the ideas of liberty even further!
With warm regards,
Matt Bufton
