What We Do
The Institute for Liberal Studies (ILS) was founded in 2006 to offer a non-partisan venue for the discussion of economics, philosophy, and politics and the foundations of a free society. We host guest lectures, seminars, and other educational events across Canada. We also host virtual talks on Zoom and produce the podcast “The Curious Task“.
Our mission is to encourage discussion about political and economic freedoms and the classical liberal tradition. If you’re unsure what classical liberalism is, consider listening to episode one The Curious Task with political scientist Nigel Ashford in which he answers the question “What is classical liberalism?“
If you would like to see the ILS visit your city or campus – and especially if you represent a university centre or student club that would like to partner with us – please contact us.
